Maple Syrup Bikkies

So one of the biscuits I made this year for PAX Aus was Maple Syrup Biscuits, and AerynKelly suggested I share the recipe - she thought they might be a bit of a hit at PAX East for some reason?

They can be quite soft, so I do tend to overbake them, but you can make the dough in advance, freeze, then let thaw, roll out and bake the night before.

1 cup butter
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup maple syrup
3 cups plain (or all-purpose) flour

Cream together butter, sugar and maple syrup.

Slowly add flour and beat well. Form into rounds (or cut out shapes) and press tops into brown sugar if desired.

Bake at 175C (or F equivalent) for 10 - 15 minutes - they will firm up on the trays as well.

I will sometimes add some nutmeg or cinnamon or allspice for a little more flavour (maple syrup in Australia tends to be $$$$ for the good stuff).
