Raffle

So I was browsing the Enforcer forums, and I came across one of my fellow Enforcers raising money via a raffle through this Widget http://www.jumpscares.org/?page_id=20
Anyone of you guys know how I can set one of these up? I was planning on selling something on Ebay towards Child’s Play charity, but I think that this might work better for the item that I plan on donating off.

All the info on the widget can be found on cp’s site https://donate.childsplaycharity.org/faq

I will point out that Nick hadn’t had much success with the raffles until he put the DLC pin up and he had a bunch of awesome prizes. If the item you’re raffling can go for a lot of money, then give it a shot and advertise the heck out of it for a few weeks beforehand. Additionally, contact those involved with the item and ask if they can direct folks to your raffle.

Finally, with the CP widget, it defaults to hiding donor info, make sure you post a blurb saying you need people to set their info to not be anonymous otherwise they can’t win the raffle.

Good luck if you go forward with it!

Would I have to create a website to host the raffle?

I planned on raffling this off immediately after prime, but some problems came up. I wanted to piggyback off of the South/Aus hype to see if I could get enough attention that way.

Here’s what I planned on auctioning/raffling off http://imgur.com/58uMVca (The middle one is mine)
If I went with Ebay, I wouldn’t have to worry about creating a website. But I know that they generally take off a percentage of what they sell it for. The banner sold for 150+ one year, with very little hype at all (my boyfriend bought the one on the right for 190?)

I’ll just outright donate $250 for it…
Otherwise I think eBay is the way to go. They have a charity option and child’s play is one of the available charities. Not sure if they still take a percentage or not. You might just have to pay the initial listing fee.

Per http://p.ebaystatic.com/aw/givingworks/Docs_and_PDFs/eBay_Giving_Works_101.pdf, 100% of the donated amount goes to the non-profit, so that should be good. If you don’t decide to go with Punzie’s offer, I’d list it after PAX Aus ended.

As tempting as Punzie’s offer is, I think it might be better to do an Auction on Ebay. It might be fun hyping it up a little, and besides… I might have more than one.

Thanks a lot for the link Paul! It cleared up a lot of questions.

Jamie emailed back to me.
It’ll be auctioned off at the CP Dinner Auction, which I’ll also be volunteering for (yay!!!)

Although I’m sure it’ll go for at least 250, if for some reason it goes below that, do you want me to put 250/whatever the next lowest bid is for you Punzie?

Ooh, you’ll be at the dinner? I’ve been thinking of going, but I don’t want to go alone… : S

It’ll be fun! It’s a reason to dress up all fancy and such. I’ll be there, but I’ll be working the event.
My boyfriend and I were going to go as dates if we didn’t get accepted. Maybe that’s something you can consider?
