Introduce Yourself

Hi Heather,

I know we’ve met before. I’m sorry you’re struggling and I know that you want to help. I responded in chat with some options, feel free to ask in the Pax specific groups. It looks like it may not work out this year, and that’s okay. We’ll look forward to seeing you when you’ve got real life sorted. There are lots of times when we all need to take a break to take care of ourselves or life and that’s okay.

Thank you, I will make sure no matter what the treats make it your way. This is too good of a program of me not to. And if I don’t make it, that’s life right now and if I do, at least I will I have better options to cover myself. Thank you again.

Hey all,

I’m Tim, from down in Melbourne.

I’m currently looking through what I can do to help with Cookie Bridgade at PAX AUS this year - though I’m usually one to do awesome cupcakes and slices, I’m looking in to what cookie options I can contribute.

Unfortunately I won’t really be in a position to be able to distribute at AUS this year, but I’ll still be able to help bake. I’m reading through whatever I can find to see what’s needed so I can help out, but if anyone feels like pointing me in the right direction, that’d be appreciated.

Welcome Tim! We’re always desperate for bakers, so glad to have you on board! This year in particular we are looking a little light on bakers. Please (if you haven’t done so already) be sure to click the link to Join the Brigade - this will grant you access to the PAX Aus specific threads. We’ve got slack too, so you can always ask questions there. Bake whatever you like - just try to stick to things that won’t fall apart easily and can handle sitting in plastic bags for a weekend  Chocolate chip cookies are always the favorite!

Hi! I’m Claire (kinda obvious XD). I’m a Melbournian who loves PAX and loves baking! I’ve just put in my application, and I look forward to baking for a good cause :3

Hi I’m Blythe I’m from the seattle area and I helped with cookies last year (baking and selling) and it was such a fun experience Im excited to help again! I’m especially good at being loud and getting peoples attention ;D

Hey all!
I helped out with PAX South last year in cookie distribution, I’d love to help this year full time. (this is Kyle, Bryce’s friend lolz) Who was at PAX South last year?

Hi everyone - my name is Stef. I stumbled on the Brigade while doing research for PAX East, and I absolutely love the idea. My grandfather was a culinary professor, and he inspired a love of baking (and cooking) in my brother and I. We plan on applying for both distributors and bakers.

It’s great to find a forum for people interested in both games and baking  I’m looking forward to meeting the community.

Also - a bit off topic, but my brother and I are also into cosplay - we would love to distribute cookies in costume ;D

Hi everyone. My name is Daniel Sample, but I go by Spaz or Sample. For the past three years of Pax south, I have stopped in the cookie brigade room and asked if they needed any help. Then just donate and keep moving. This year I stopped in and asked, and was placed to work. It made this years pax extra special. I was sticking labels on cookies, sniffing bags to figure out what fudge was what fudge, and running around distributing cookies. It was an awesome time and would like to do it again for pax 2020. My wife, Katie, was talking about making vegan cookies for 2020 as well.

Hi Cookie folks! I had put in a volunteer application for PAX east a week ago and was hoping to hear something back!

I believe this has been taken care of. Lmk if there are still issues.

Hello all!
My name is Johnny and I’m a first time cookie brigadier (hope to be one!). I’ve attended PAX East since 2011 and I have managed to work at several booths before, namely Dell and Alienware. I hope to get to know you all!

Hi! I’m going to PAX East and live in the greater Boston area. Should anyone here be a baker north of Boston not going to the event but still baking let me know and I’ll see what can be done for me to get your goodies to bring in with me Thursday morning.

Hi Kaywray,

Due to some glitches working with the convention center we are not accepting baked goods this year. We’d love to have your help distributing the cookies that we have purchased. Keep an eye out as we’ll be posting the requirements for baking next year which will definitely include a drop off no later than Tuesday night.

Also, we’d love it if you could head to the application section and fill one out so that we can get you all set up in our system.

Thanks!

Kintyre

Hi everyone,

My name is David Wallace and I volunteered for my first PAX event yesterday at PAX West. Myself and two of my teenage sons spent a couple of hours labeling cookie packets. We would like to help as other volunteer opportunities arise. Thanks to Amy Goodner for letting us know about the opportunity yesterday.

Hello, everyone!
My name is Erin. I’ve only been to pax West twice but both times I was blown away by the cookie brigade and what they do. Anyone that spends their time for a children’s charity makes my heart happy.

I volunteer with a superhero cosplay group that raises money for children’s hospitals, and does visits every few months at the hospitals. It’s one of the most rewarding things I do! I also work in a residential care home for teenagers with developmental disabilities, and it has been life changing for me. I spend so much time watching the girls grow and explore, seeing them do things for the first time. My passion really is helping those who need it.

In my spare time I love to bake(and I’m generally pretty decent at it). Much better at cookies than cupcakes! The first time I saw the cookie brigade I was confused but my boyfriend explained it and I was just awestruck. And then this year, seeing how different everyone is, and that they’re all doing the same thing, it made me want to join that. I’d love to bake and donate cookies! I’d love to help collect donations for cookies! Really I’d just love to be a part of this amazing thing you all do.

Sorry I sound super sappy, I tend to be too happy and speak with too many explanations at all times!

Welcome @ErinRae you don’t sound sappy at all, I think everyone here is just as passionate about fundraising and the cause. We’d love to have you on board as a volunteer for PAX West!

Have you joined our Discord yet? We’ve just coming off the event so its a bit chaotic, but its where you’ll find people chatting and talking.

Hey everyone! I’m Michael.

I’m from South Texas and I am currently in my last year of college at UTSA in San Antonio. I’m a communication major with a PR concentration, and a business minor. I’ve been attending PAX South for 2 years now, alongside other Texas-based conventions such as SXSW in Austin, Dreamhack in Austin (Now Dallas), and RealmsCon in Corpus Christi.

Weirdly enough, I run a fansite for a “Children’s Card Game MMO”, and I’m a small influencer, I suppose. I’m a Discord Hypesquad Event Attendee (possibly an Event Organizer in the future?) who has volunteered at their PAX booth, which allowed me to network and meet people that I wouldn’t have probably socialized with at PAX.

Anyways, I extremely appreciate and applaud everything that the brigade has done throughout all of the PAXen. Although I may not be someone who can bake or cook anything significant, I’ve always enjoyed eating the awesome cookies (and other nice stuff) from the wonderful bakers who contribute.

Super stoked to be here!

Online I’m GimmieSunshine, but most people call me Carrie or Caroline. I live in the suburbs between Philadelphia, PA and Wilmington, DE. I spend most of my time working full time as an RN. I love baking cookies and used to make them in very large quantities at holiday time to give as gifts (when I had more time and little money). I cut back over time and then stopped almost completely because I’m trying not to eat them all! I’ve substituted crocheting as an alternate creative outlet, but I miss baking. Doing it for a good cause would be even better!
I was introduced to the Cookie Brigade at PAX Unplugged last year (I don’t think I noticed anyone in 2017). I’m hoping to contribute by baking a lot (and possibly distributing too) for Unplugged 2019.
