Well hello there!

My name is Kitty… or Grace… I’ll answer to either. I have to remind myself that I’ve been baking longer than I’ve been gaming and I love making sweet treats for friends and family.

I first learned about the Cookie Brigade at PaxEast a couple years back when a lovely, motherly, Brigadier saved me when I almost succumbed to low blood sugar. I think its a wonderful way to raise money for Child’s Play, with the added benefit of really brightening a Pax-goer’s day.

If it were possible, I’d love to contribute to the baking, but alas, my husband and I live in Washington DC and have to fly in to PaxEast. Therefore I’d like to see about volunteering as a distributor on Friday and Sunday. (As for Saturday, well, I’m a cosplayer, and between my sword and shield I won’t have the arm slots for cookies then)

Speaking of cosplay, are distributers allowed to do so in costume? I promise only cuddly and family-friendly while representing the Brigade (if you’ll have me). I’m working on a Troupple Acololyte costume from Shovel Night.

At any rate, I look forward to getting to know you guys and hopefully joining the ranks!

G’day,

I’m Senno, from Bendigo, Victoria, Australia. I’ve been to PAX Aus 2013/4 and have tickets purchased for 2015.

I first came across the Cookie Brigade at PAX Aus 2014 and bought my first cookie there. It was a delicious smarties cookie. I had been curious about them for some time, and I felt that they were a part of the PAX community, but I didn’t pursue it.

I’m a big pin trader, I love collecting and trading pins and will definitely be involved in doing that again this year. I have about 100/198 so far.

I read the comic as soon as it comes out, and I’m also a Club PA member.

I do all the cooking at my home, and I ocassionally bake too. I can make some decent cakes, muffins and the like, though I haven’t made as many cookies as I should. But I guess I can have fun trying out some recipes. I certainly enjoy eating them.

When I was much younger I had to spend a fair amount of time at a hospital. I know the benefit first hand of having toys and games to take your mind off the treatment. I was always thankful for the Clown Doctors and the knitted items I received from some charities. I still have a handkerchief I received from a charity, and a huge picture with myself and the Clown Doctors as I left.

The Cookie Brigade is something that I feel is both cool, and also does something that makes a difference. Child’s Play is something I can get behind, and I feel being part of the Cookie Brigade would enhance my PAX experience.

Don’t know what much else to put down here. I’m 32, I’m engaged and plan to wed this year, I attend PAX alone (she won’t come, but does other things), I work as a Carer, I’m saving up to buy a house, and in my spare time I like to play videogames.

More seriously: I am Tom “TOGSolid” Loughead. I live in Juneau, Alaska and and a long time PAX Primer, organizer of the Pre-PAX Dinner, former Slytherin Death Eater Head of House, and now one of the organizers of the yearly charity barcrawl. I’ve been on the PA forums for years and saw cookies were needed and so will be driving the Fury Road between my parent’s house and PAX to deliver delicious cookies!

It’s like The Transporter only with way more sugar.

I maaay be exhibiting this year so I can’t commit to anything beyond just being a supplier just yet.

Hello! I’ve been attending Prime for about ten years now and have finally decided to roll up my sleeves and help out by baking several dozen cookies. :slight_smile: I’m coming down from the Vancouver area so I should be able to transport cookies down if there are any being made that don’t have transportation down to Seattle! I work in IT as my day job and dabble in baking in cookies in my free time. :smiley:

Hi I’m Becky, I recently joined this group after seeing someone doing their thing at a signing, and I really thought it was cool. Thankfully I have already got a approved message and i’m so excited to help out at Pax south, which will be my second pax. I’m always interested in charity stuff, our work did fundraisers and I always would be the top raiser since I’d really try to get donations xD I love stuff like this. And I wish I lived close enough to be a baker. Maybe in the future.

Welcome Angelicstubborness. No worries about where you live to be a baker, what it really comes down to is what you are willing to pay to ship them. I live in NY, and box and ship cookies for Prime and South (brigadiers in the area will accept them), then stuff my vehicle full and drive for East. It can be done!

Hello, I’m Michele! I am attending PAX-South as a first-timer and was told I could volunteer with Cookie Brigade to be a 1. participant, 2. help out a great cause, 3. bake and spread cheer. My husband is a 2nd-time attender and I’ll accompany him to a lot of the con, but I really like that CB is an outlet for my type of people (child charity supporters, and bakers/eaters of cookies).

Hi! Name is Jen and I am from San Antonio, Texas. I was making cookies today and started day dreaming about PAX South and thought about how awesome it was to see the Cookie Brigade. My husband and I both cosplay (we were Steampunk Princess Peach & Mario) last year and plan on cosplaying this year so wont be able to pass out cookies but I would love more than anything to help donate cookies since I am local and can easily get them there :slight_smile: I am beyond excited!

If you aren’t comfortable distributing in cosplay that’s fine. A lot of distributors cosplay. In fact our cosplaying distributors bring in a ton of money so we’re fine if you want to do both! In fact I’ll be cosplaying for the first time this South and will be distributing as well.

Hello! I met some fine folks at OrcaCon a couple weekends ago and I absolutely love this idea. That might be because I’m a huge fan of Child’s Play, baking, cookies, and gaming. It’s basically a perfect fit.

I would have come by sooner, but I had surgery on the 15th and I’ve been in a bit of a painkiller haze.

Anyhow, I’m Leigh. I’m an avid geek gamer sort. It’s just part of my blood. :smiley:
I do plan to sign up to be a distributor and someday, I’d like to even bake (don’t have kitchen space right now)! I moved to the Seattle area just this past October and I really really hope I can get tickets to Prime this year.

Hello! I ran into a few people during Pax South, and, being very invested in cookies within my own personal life, became very interested in your organization.

I saw my first Brigadier on Friday in queue for a panel and didn’t think much of it. Later on, I was awake in bed at two in the morning aimlessly reading the #Pax hashtag on the South app and saw a number of tweets asking for help and how the cookie brigade was horribly low on volunteers. Well, on Saturday, I randomly ran into a couple with their bag of cookies and thought, “What the hell”. A few minutes later I was in room 008 getting the general break down of what the brigade was and what the hell was going on. Soon after my lanyard was significantly heavier with pins and a bag of cookies of my own.

I’ve been a fairly hard core fundraiser for most of my life. I’ve been involved in enough organizations and non-profits that you would stop reading this post when you saw the list. I’ve raised more money before and I have raised less. Still, between the amazing energy that envelops PAX and knowing that I went out and raised over $1,200 in a day and a half leaves me more emotional than I have ever been before.

Anyway, what I’m actually saying is I think I’ll hang around for a while and see you guys next year.

I joined today. Sadly, I missed the last two PAX Prime shows, but I got my hands on tickets this year so I’m just hoping to be able to support the cause in some way/shape/or form. I always see your posts, and I’ve had the pleasure of bumping into a brigadier on the floor in the past.

I just think you and what you all do is wonderful. I’m looking forward to maybe working with some of you :slight_smile:

Hi, I will be returning. I’ve had to step back the last year due to health and my friends and family have been kind of enough to join in to help me. It is such an important, fun event. We will be making treats, not sure which one yet. Glad to see such a great crowd already.

Hi everyone!

I’m Ben, and joined up recently. This will be my second PAX West, the wife and I came for a Saturday in 2013 with our 15 month old daughter. I noticed the cookie brigade while sitting in the line for Major Nelson’s podcast. Having been a cookie maker for a long time, and having briefly had a cookie business out of my home I thought I could help bake some cookies for a great cause.

I’m hoping we can get Friday off from work so that we are in Seattle from the start of PAX, but our work may not let us off until noonish (we will be coming from Portland).
